Helpful Hints
Below are a few hints that you can begin with now even before we meet:
First of all thoughts simply happen so don't try to control them directly; better
to let them be and at first focus on something else; music, a beautiful
object that really grabs your attention or the feel of something, the
textured bark of a tree, a beautiful Painting or piece of fabric, even the feel and the sound of water
as you wash dishes.
Second, what appeals to you naturally?
Like
the possibilities above, is looking at or listening to or feeling more
natural to you? This is equally important because what meditation can
give you can best be experienced when you are relaxed and focused at
the same time. And in doing what you like their is always less stress and more enjoyment.
Third, don't try for too much at the beginning. Five to ten minutes at first; just a little bit can bring a lot of the great benefits of meditation.
